This is YOUR office. It’s not an inherited office. Not an office that should be given. It should be earned.
“I want to be reachable.”
It’s one item I discussed at a recent candidate forum. How will I accomplish this after I am in office?
Have regular scheduled constituent meetings. Your concerns matter, even after the election is over. For TOGETHER is how change will happen.
One year ago today on January 26, 2020, a small tow--the RC Creppel--was pushing two barges downriver. Simultaneously, the COOPERATIVE SPIRIT was moving upriver pushing 40 barges. The total length of the Cooperative Spirit including her 40 barges was roughly 1600 feet.
At approximately 5:33 in the morning, the COOPERATIVE SPIRIT collided with the RC Creppel leaving three men trapped inside.
Following the COOPERATIVE SPIRIT upriver was the M/V Glory First operating under full speed. A local pilot was aboard the vessel along with a Chinese National as the Chief Mate. The Captain of the M/V Glory First was not present on the bridge of the vessel. The M/V Glory First slowed slightly, but continued upriver barreling over the previous accident site and colliding with the starboard side of the COOPERATIVE SPIRIT.
The primarily Chinese crewed M/V Glory First continued on to its destination without stopping.
This accident was largely the result of a complete disregard for basic maritime safety rules as well as corporate greed that disregards river safety to maximize profit. This tragic incident resulted in loss of life for 3 dedicated and hardworking merchant mariners.
Reconstructing maritime safety laws and implementing river commerce regulations is an important part of what Captain Lansden hopes to accomplish during his term in Congress. It is important not only for the families that lost loved ones on that tragic day, but also to the future of all Louisianans and their families that may find themselves working on the already dangerous Mississippi River.
On January 27, 1945 the Auschwitz Nazi concentration camp was liberated. This day (as should every day) is a remembrance to the Holocaust where in areas under Nazi Germany control over 6 million Jews, and an estimated 11 million others, were murdered in a systematic way. Brave men and women of the United States Military fought and died to destroy the Nazi Regime. Our country stands for Justice and Freedom for all.
We stand against racism of any kind. We will speak out against it and continue to fight for the free speech to do so.
Robert Lansden stands for jobs, in every industry. On the rivers to the deep seas, maritime to the oil fields American workers need help NOW.
Executive Orders are being signed that are taking away jobs. Captain Lansden has served in the industry. He has sailed ships around the world seeing the world trade and commerce first hand. He’s a trained engineer, welder, shipboard fire fighter. He knows the satisfaction of hard work. He will work hard to unleash the working hands of American men and women again. Allowing them to freely pursue their dreams, and not the dreams of the an overreaching government driven by out of touch leaders. Please support Robert Lansden on March 20th for Congress. With your vote, we can do this TOGETHER.
